First Facebook, then Twitter, now LinkedIn. Whether you are a premium member or not, you will now be able to add a background image to your LinkedIn profile.
You might be thinking…oh great, now LinkedIn is to become another Facebook or Twitter, I’m not creative! But don’t worry, you won’t have to miss out on the opportunities this simple addition could bring to your profile. Here are a few tips on what you can do with your LinkedIn background image.
What can you use the LinkedIn Background Image for?
There are various creative and beneficial uses for a LinkedIn Background image. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:
- Contact information – Why not use the background image to push your contact details? By putting your phone number or ‘call-to-action’ on your background image, you could encourage a few more potential business opportunities to pick up the phone or send you a message.
- Your services – There may not be much space for a full paragraph about your services or business details, but used wisely this new space can bring your business services to life. A few key words, perhaps supported by your contact information, could make all the difference.
- Be creative – Particularly if you are in the design, fashion or creative industries, this is your chance to make a great first impression about what you do. Keep the background image updated regularly with the latest designs.
- Keep it simple – In the end of the day, the background image is what you make it to be. If you don’t want to distract visitors from your main profile information too much, keep things simple with a more generic, inoffensive image; I’m sure LinkedIn will come with some basic designs for you to choose from.
